§ 1.1. PURPOSE

In order to lessen congestion in the streets; to secure safety from fire, panic, and dangers; to promote the public health, safety, and welfare; to provide adequate light and air; to prevent the overcrowding of land; to avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate the efficient and adequate provisions of transportation, sewerage, schools, parks, and other public requirements; to conserve the value of buildings; to protect the public water supply, and encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the planning and zoning jurisdiction in accordance with a comprehensive land use plan of Bladen County, there is hereby adopted and established an official Zoning Ordinance of Bladen County, North Carolina.
